On Monday April 4th @ 1135 hours Station 7 along with Squad 5, Life Support 5, New Castle County Rescue 20, and A-20 were dispatched to the westbound lanes at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge for a MVC reported with patients trapped in the vehicle. Upon arrival of 7-9 Assistant Chief Winfield confirmed 1 car vs. tractor trailer with the driver still trapped in the vehicle. Rescue 7-9's crew with assistance from Rescue 20's crew removed the roof and driver's door to extricate the driver within 11 minutes of arrival on scene. With the driver removed,Squad 5 along with Life Support 5 transported the patient to Christiana ER with head trauma. A-20 transported the passenger of the vehicle to Christiana ER for evaluation. The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured and the scene was turned over to the DRBA Police for investigation @1206 hrs.
