Deer stuck in frozen pond

February 10, 2021

Earlier this evening, the Deepwater Fire Company was requested by the Salem County Water Rescue Team to assist in the rescue of a baby deer that had fallen through ice into frigid water at an undisclosed location. Members from the rescue team were able to wade into the water approximately 30 feet from land and remove the deer without incident. The deer was dried off and warmed up before being turned over to Animal Control who will see it is safely released tomorrow.
